It's has a 12 string guitar, electric bass, drums, fender rhodes line up with sax on one or two songs also. The 12 string gives it a somewhat chorusy sound, but he still does some amazing runs. The sound is unique. The tunes and arrangements have a 60's soul jazz sound. It reminds me of 80's 90's John Scofield at times/5(7).

This is a relaxed, comfortable, if unchallenging listen from two of the top guitar players of the age and a bassist who can (and has before) fronted a two guitar line up (Marc Johnson's Bass Desires -- check it out, Frisell and Scofield -- twice the music and twice the kick as that presented here) It's good music, but I expected more/5.

Bill Frisell plays electric and acoustic guitars, Pat Metheny plays electric guitar, acoustic guitar and string pikasso guitar, and Joey Baron plays drums and tambourine. Produced by the seemingly omniscient Lee Townsend, this excellent CD is truly the Sound of Summer Running/5(33).

Dec 03,  · John Scofield (guitar) John Molo (drums), Mookie Siegel (keys) There were about 6 times in Pittsburgh where they would kick into a song and Barry was off in a similar song, Phil would catch on and the rest of the band just played what Phil told them too. I would have to say Keep Sless on Guitar Campbell on other Strings (mandolin.

BBC Radio 3 asserts they are “one of the most exciting all star experimental groups in jazz today”. Partisans cook up a trademark shot of gritty be-bop mashed with hard bop, early electric Miles (one of their main influences), ballads with sustained delicacy, rock riffs mixed with P-Funk grooves and with fresh departures into electronica.
  8. Jujinn says:
The s marked the last phase of Miles’s electric music era; guitarist Joe Beck marks the beginning of it. In December , Beck joined Miles and his second great quintet of Ron Carter, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Tony Williams in the studio to record a couple of tracks – the first time Miles used an electric instrumentalist.
